Stuart Hyland: Partner

Stuart has nearly 30 years’ experience in reward consulting in a career which has seen him lead reward advisory teams and business units in some of the world’s largest and best-known people and HR advisory firms.

Stuart uses his extensive experience to develop practical and pragmatic solutions as part of an ongoing client relationship approach. His focus is on developing solutions that are sustainable, transparent and easy to communicate, and which support business and employee success.  

Peter Smith – Founding Partner

Peter has over 30 years’ experience supporting remuneration committees and management teams on executive remuneration strategy. Peter first advised on remuneration when he joined Strategic Compensation Associates in 1994, when it opened its London office. Six years later, Peter co-founded Kepler Associates which grew to become the largest independent remuneration consultancy in the UK. In 2015, Peter became a Partner at Mercer on its acquisition of Kepler, before leaving to start Ellason in 2021.

Ed Mottley – Founding Partner

Ed has over 20 years’ experience supporting remuneration committees. His client portfolio includes the role of appointed advisor to the remuneration committees and HR leaders of many of the UK’s largest listed companies.

Ed joined Kepler Associates in 2005. Ten years later, he joined Mercer following its acquisition of Kepler, becoming a Partner and leading the UK Executive Reward practice from 2018 until leaving to establish Ellason in 2021.
